On a festive note, Adam Alharbi, the successor of outgoing Mayor Amer Ghalib, joined senior residents at the Hamtramck Senior Plaza on December 19, 2025, to share in a delightful holiday lunch. Alharbi’s visit was not just a gesture of goodwill; it highlighted the ongoing support and connection between the city’s leadership and its senior community.
During the gathering held at 26-20 Holbrook, Alharbi expressed his gratitude to Chris and the entire Hamtramck Housing Commission for orchestrating a stellar event. “It was a pleasure joining our senior residents at the Hamtramck Senior Plaza for a wonderful holiday lunch today! A big thank you to Chris and the entire Hamtramck Housing Commission for organizing such a festive event. It’s no surprise the lunch was so well-run; the Commission has consistently proven their dedication to excellence as a HUD High Performer for 20 years,” he stated.
Alharbi also acknowledged the essential role of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA), remarking on the vital support they provide to seniors in the area. The afternoon served as a meaningful reminder of the community’s commitment to its older residents.
Adam Alharbi is set to officially take office as mayor on January 1, 2026, and his term will extend through December 31, 2029. With a strong focus on community engagement and support for seniors, Alharbi aims to foster a vibrant Hamtramck for all its residents.
As the holiday season progresses, Mayor-elect Alharbi’s visit serves as a heartwarming reminder of the importance of community and togetherness in Hamtramck. Happy Holidays.
